Odisha awarded for empowering Garm Panchayats

Panchayati Raj DayOdisha government on Sunday received the Incremental Devolution Index Award 2015-16 for providing maximum power to the Gram Panchayats.

State Panchayati Raj secretary Deoranjan Singh received the award from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of National Panchayati Raj Day organized in Jamshedpur.

Singh said the state government had given enough funds to all panchayats for the development of Gram Panchayats (GPs) and have plan to give administrative and financial power to all 6,211 GPs to make them self-sufficient.

Andhra Pradesh and Sikkim awarded with first and second prizes accordingly. Odisha got 3rd position amongst States & award for Incremental Devolution Index by Govt. of India.

Modi also gave awards to Kerala, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Sikkim for their All Round Develpoment work in Panchayats.
