Odisha will be providing free smart phones to the families residing in ‘Swabhiman Anchal,’ Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Patnaik said, “The Swabhiman region has always been in my heart. I will continue my efforts to make it a leading region in the state. Mobile phones will help children learn online and connect with people from other parts of the country.”
There are four mobile towers in the Swabiman area, while three more towers would be built with 4G facilities, a statement from the CMO stated. The Chief Minister said that in July 2016, he visited Swabhimaan and inaugurated the Gurpriya Bridge. At the time, he had announced a special package of Rs 100 crore which was later increased to Rs 215 crore.
