“It has been decided to sign the agreement with a view to strengthening cooperation and render sustained mutual assistance and advice on merchant shipping and other related maritime matters,” a cabinet communique said.
The agreement will help both countries develop their maritime relationship and stimulate the growth of maritime traffic, as well as in setting up joint ventures in the maritime sector, India’s shipping ministry said in a statement.
Egypt is strategically located in North Africa as a gateway to the continent, as well as on the sea route to Europe.
