Tokyo stocks advance, Nikkei up 188 Points

Tokyo, Dec 11: Tokyo stocks advanced on Friday as investor sentiment was lifted by Wall Street’s solid performance overnight and shares were bought back that had been oversold recently.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 188.75 points, or 0.99 percent from Thursday to 19,235.30 at the break, Xinhua reported.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange rose 9.52 points, or 0.62 percent to 1,549.87.

The morning’s notable advancers comprised pharmaceuticals, electric machinery and air transport-linked shares.  (IANS)
