BJP set to snap ties with Akali Dal in Punjab!

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is trying to grow on its own across the world, may dump another ally Akali Dal over the drug pedalling issue. After the ED launched a probe into the involvement of Punjab Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia in a multi-crore international drug scandal, the BJP has demanded his resignation or removal, creating further divide between both parties.

Bikram Singh Majithia is Union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal’s brother and brother-in-law of Deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal. Punjab CM Prakash Singh Badal has already ruled out seeking Majithia’s resignation and remains silent over this issue.

However, the BJP, which is part of Punjab Government, is in no mood to condone Majithia. Majithia must resign to ensure a free and fair probe, the party maintained. Some leaders in Akali Dal believe that the ED probe against Majithia was part of BJP President Amit Shah’s broader plan to isolate the allies and rise on their own. They think that BJP is on a mission to kill the regional parties and may not spare its allies too.
