Earlier, Omar Abdullah had met J&K Governor NN Vohra to hand over a letter of support to the PDP if it wants to form the government in Jammu & Kashmir. “We must be consulted in any talks related to government formation,” he had urged the Governor.
“@JKNC_has written to Governor Vohra Sahib reiterating our offer of support to @jkpdp and asking him to call us before deciding the assembly viability,” Omar Abdullah had tweeted on Tuesday. Governor’s Rule was imposed in J&K after the political parties failed to reach out any agreement to form the government in the state.
PDP is the single largest party in J&K with 28 seats, while BJP is not far behind with 25 seats. The National Conference has 15 MLAs, followed by Congress (12) and People’s Conference (2). Any party or alliance needs the support of 44 MLAs in the 87-meber Assembly to form the next government. It is believed that PDP and BJP will join hands to form the government in J&K after the Delhi assembly polls.
