A workshop for 35 New Khadi Societies held Bhubaneswar

Happy blending of tradition and design will take Khadi Odisha sky-high. It may be difficult to achieve the Gandhian goal of Khadi, but not impossible rather rewarding lotus comes out of mud, a developed Japan comes out of the ashes of Heroshima- Nagasaki and Khadi can come out of the soul of India i.e. the villages.
A zero compromise in the quality of Khadi can attract the sight of the global market. Women can be trend setters in Khadi Movement, said the Brand Ambassadors of Khadi Odisha – famous Olywood stars Anu Choudhury, Akash Das Nayak, Sabysachi Mishra, Archita Sahu and Khadi Fashion Designer Subhrajyoti Das Nayak in the workshop of newly farmed 35 nos. of societies organised in the OK&V1B premises at Janpath on 03.07.2015.
They said, they would visit Khadi institutions inside and outside the state and assured their active cooperation in Designing, Marketing and Quality Upgradation of Khadi garments.
Presiding over the workshop Sri. Tejeswar Parida, President Odisha Khadi & Village Industries Board called upon the office bearers of Khadi societies to work for wholesome development of Khadi in Odisha in dedicated spirit in view of positive persecutions of Govt Odisha. The Board President expressing his satisfaction on production of Silk & Tusser Khadi stressed upon extensive growth of cotton Khadi which can provide self-employment for thousands of rural women.
Sri. Parida also did call upon the Khadi activists to come forward to Design Development. He asserted that the Board shall impress upon the Govt. of Odisha to announce special packages for Khadi artisans including subsidy for spinning wages, subsidy for establishment of sales emporiums and creation of Khadi Artisans Welfare Fund etc.
Sri. Remish Kerketta, Secretary, OK&VIB explained the modalities how to prepare budget and avail financial assistance under Interest Subsidy Eligibility Certificate. Participating in the workshop Sri. Utakal Keshari, State Director, KVIC asked the societies to work in dedicated spirit. He said all possible support shall be provided to new Khadi Societies.
The Cine Stars and Fashion Designer shared about 3 hours with the Khadi Artisans reciprocating their views on what best can be done for Khadi. Khadi Artisans from across the state present in the workshop described this to be a historical event.
It is worth mentioning that the Hon’ble Chief Minister Sj. Naveen Patnaik in the last Review Meeting on MSME Dept. held on 22th June 2015 has directed for Revival of Old Khadi Societies, establishment of new Khadi Societies, to create more self employment opportunities in Khadi and Village Industries sector in Odisha. The OK&VIB organized this workshop in view of the Hon’ble Chief Minister’s above mentioned direction.
