Bakul Foundation celebrates Mother’s Day in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Youths in the twin city celebrated International Day of Service by bringing smiles in orphanages and old age homes. A day created by city based Bakul Foundation witnessed a flow of more than 500 volunteer in 16 cities across india.

Bhubaneswar-Cuttack are the pioneer in mobilizing ,ore than 150 young volunteers who did service in 9 orphanages and 1 Old age home. This year the theme was celebrating the mother’s love as it happened on International Mothers Day. Volunteers spread the message of love among the children who doesn’t have mother and also among the mothers who doesn’t have children.

The day started with 28 children coming from different brick kilns of Bhubaneswar having fun with storytelling sessions, art and craft, games and reading picture books at Bakul Library Bhubaneswar. It was facilitated by Aide-et-Action, an organization which advocate for these kids.

“For me life was confined to my college campus and movies, for the first time I was experiencing a different person within me with the children at SOS village, bhubaneswar and thanks to Bakul foundation for giving me this volunteering experience, said Sital Begum Manisha Mishra, an under graduate student.

Similarly it was an overwhelming experience for Kamal Chatar, who coordinated a team of 20 volunteers at Pune and celebrated the joy of love at Asha Kiran, a near by orphanage.

It was Bakul Foundation whose volunteers imparted a change on this occasion. Honest efforts of the volunteers enabled in bringing smiles at the depressed lips. This day has been celebrated by volunteers of Bakul across globe to exhibit the power of Volunteerism since 2011.

“We want to involve and inculcate the spirit of volunteerism amongst young mass and this day is designed to give them all a platform to serve and do service,” said sujit Mahapatra, Founder of Bakul Foundation.
