Berhampur Children Federation pays tribute to Dr. Kalam

Berhampur, Aug 3: Berhampur children’s federation today expressed their grief to their loved former children’s former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. They express mourn by having two minutes silent prayer for his rest in peace in the arms of God here at Ganjam Kala Parishad in Berhampur. More than 170 children from 27 slums participated in this condolence meet. Every child got an opportunity to speak about Dr. Kalam whatever they know about him. Interestingly most of them know three things about Dr. Kalam like he is the missile man, he is the former president of India and he loves children and youth.

In the 14^th meeting of ‘Berhampur Children Federation’ most of the child club members demanded to prioritise children for their development and protect the rights of the children. They remembered the famous quote of Dr. Kalam “Let us sacrifice our today so that our children can have a better tomorrow.” In this occasion children’s demanded to prioritise the issues of children by all sections of the society including government. They also highlighted their demand for a better living condition in slums and make Berhampur a child friendly smart city.

It is noted that Youth for Social Development, a local NGO based in Berhmapur has facilitated 27 child clubs in Berhampur and has been working with more than 1800 children in slums in Berhampur to improve their living condition and protect the right of the child. In this occasion child leaders Miss Smruti Kumari Sahu of Raghupati Nagar, Mr. Kanha Nayak of Teleugu Street, Mr Amita Kumar Das of Gauda Bandha Street, Mr. Pappu Das of Gramadevati Street and Mr. Snajya Das of Old Berhampur has participated in this occasion.
