MCL felicitates Visually Impaired Cricket Talent Jafar Iqbal

Bhubaneswar, July 24, 2015: Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) Mr A N Sahay today felicitated Mr Mohammad Jafar Iqbal, visually impaired cricketer from Odisha who was vice-Capitan of Team India during successful tour to England in May 2015.

Team India had won the bilateral series 2-0 in ODI and 3-0 in T/20. Mr Sahay presented a cheque of Rs one lakh to Mr Iqbal as a token of appreciation for his successful career in the game, and wished him all luck for promoting cricket among visually-impaired people in the state of Odisha.

Expressing his gratitude to Mahanadi Coalfields, Mr Iqbal said the gesture was a great source of motivation for him.

Playing for country since November 2011, Mr Iqbal — Captain of the Odisha as well as the East Zone teams — was also a part of the Team India that won the 4th ODI Blind Cricket World Cup held at South Africa in December 2014 and the T/20 World Cup held in India in December 2012.

MCL has been extending supporting hand nurture to talented sportspersons.
