GST rate on Restaurants cut to 5% from 18%

Insight Bureau:  The tax rate for AC and non-AC restaurants goes down to down to 5% from existing 18% except for Five Star Hotels, informed by the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley at the 23rd meeting of GST Council in Guwahati on Friday.

GST is levied at 12% for non-AC restaurants, while it is 18 % for AC restaurants.

Addressing the GST Council meeting, Finance Minister said that the restaurant industry will not get input tax credit while utdoor catering will be taxed at 18% with ITC.
