Cyclone Nivar: Tamil Nadu CM To Visit Affected Areas

Cyclone Nivar weakened from a ‘very severe cyclonic storm” to a ‘severe cyclonic storm’ and made landfall near the coastal town of Marakkanam in Tamil Nadu at 2:30am on Thursday. The landfall was approximately 30 km north of Puducherry.

Reports suggest that three persons have lost their lives in Tamil Nadu. Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami will visit the worst-affected Cuddalore district and assess the damage.

Ahead of the Cyclone Nivar landfall, around 1200 NDRF personnel were stationed at Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andhra Pradesh.

Meanwhile Puducherry CM V Narayanasamy also visited different areas to assess the damage.
