Historian Shekhar Pathak to return ‘Padma Shri’ Award

Historian, Writer and Editor Dr. Shekhar Pathak has decided to return ‘Padma Shri’ award, which he received in 2007. He cited “rising intolerance” in the country while taking the decision.

* Shekhar Pathak is the founder of People’s Association for Himalaya Area Research (PAHAR), a non-profit organisation.

* Currently, Pathak is a research scholar at Nehru Memorial Museum and Library, after he received the Jawaharlal Nehru Fellowship.
