The four young women footballers – Santi Murmu, Janaki Murmu, Eva panna and Bannya Kabiraj, were part of India’s U-14 Girls’ Football team that was in Kathmandu to participate in the AFC U-14 girls Regional Championship-2015 from April 18 to 25.
They were playing their game against Iran when the quake struck. All members of the team were shifted to safer location immediately. Union External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj took special interest in ensuring the safe return of U-14 girls’ team.
While these four players returned to Bhubaneswar, their Assistant Coach Shradhanjali Samantaray will make a comeback tomorrow. She is currently in New Delhi to complete the official formalities.
