Chief Minister Flags Off 1st Indo Nepal Friendship Motor Rally

1st Indo Nepal Friendship Motor Rally 2015 was Flagged Off by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha Sri Naveen Patnaik today morning at Hotel Mayfair Lagoon, Bhubaneswar. About 24 Teams and 120 participants from INDIA & NEPAL took off on an exciting journey of 3060 kms spanning 10 days and touching Kathmandu would conclude at the India Gate, New Delhi on the 8th of March 2015. Thus, opening a new programme to strengthen the bilateral relationship between India & Nepal.

About the Rally: The first ever Indo-Nepal Friendship Motor Rally is being jointly organised by Kalinga Motor Sports Club, Bhubaneswar and Nepal Automobile Sports Association (NASA). Motor sporting enthusiast from all over the country and Nepal are the team members of this Friendship rally. Retired Army General, Senior Bureaucrats, Politian, Motor Rally Veterans and many more first timers would be part of this historic event to spread the word of friendship in India and Nepal. The event is being spear headed by Sri. Praveen Chandra Bhanjdeo, MLA & Former Minister of Sports & Youth Services, Govt. of Odisha.

This event carries much importance as Jagannath Dham of Puri and Pashupatinath of Kathmandu have great pilgrimage importance both in India as well as in Nepal. This friendship car rally will start from sea level and culminate on the high mountains of the Himalayas. Later it will leave Kathmandu and end in New Delhi. The rally would cover THE BUDDHIST TRAIL in India & Nepal starting from Dhauli Shanti Stupa, where King Ashok, left his sword for peace after The Battle of Kalinga.

The “INDO -NEPAL FRIENDSHIP MOTOR RALLY 2015” will wade through other places of Historical importance linking Lord Buddha and Buddhism. It will pass through BODH GAYA, RAJGIR, NALANDA, PATALIPUTRA (Patna) and reach LUMBINI (Nepal) the birth place of SAKYAMUNI – SIDDHARTH, THE GOUTAM BUDDHA.

The Motor Rally would advocate Road Safety Campaign throughout the route. The event would give tremendous impetus for tourism both spiritual and adventurous to people from both countries as there would be wide spread coverage in person as well as by media.
