CM proposes for extension of ‘Skill Development of Youth in LWE Districts’

Bhubaneswar, Oct 31: Union Skill Development Secretary Shri Rohit Nandan today met Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik at Secretariat to discuss issues of skill development in Odisha.  During the discussion, Chief Minister Shri Patnaik proposed to extend the scheme of “Skill Development of Youth in LWE districts” to 13 more districts of Odisha. Presently only five LWE districts of Odisha are included under the scheme.  In this scheme, one ITI and two Skill Development Centres are being set up per district.

The Union Government was also requested to consider opening a branch office of Regional Directorate of Apprentice Training, Hyderabad in Bhubaenswar

The Chief Minister also stressed on having common norms and guidelines across central ministries and state govt. departments for a coordinated approach in implementation of skill development programmes.

Highlighting the target of skill development for two lakh youth every year in the state, the Chief Minister said that National Skill Development Mission should provide capital support for tools and equipment to the district level Skill Development Centres with hostel facilities.

Skill Development & Technical Education Minister Shri Sanjay Dasberma, Chief Secretary, Development Commissioner, ACS Finance and Principal Secretary Skill Development & Technical Education were present in the meeting.
