Innocent Tribals brutally tortured, beaten up by blood-thirsty Maoists

Most of the 11 people abducted from Mahupadar village under Mathili block of Malkangiri district on Wednesday, were badly beaten up and tortured by the Maoists for applying for police jobs. Some of the youths sustained fractures and grievous injuries and had to be brought back on shoulders of their family members or friends.

The Maoists released them on Friday evening after holding a ‘Praja Court’ or ‘Kangaroo Court’. The only mistake of these innocent tribal youths was that they had applied for jobs in police department.

The blood-thirsty rebels not only subjected them to tortute and thrashing, but also warned them not to repeat the ‘mistake’ in future. They received death threats too. The tribal youths were also warned not to use mobile phones. Some of the youths are badly injured and going through medical treatment.

This is not the first such instance. On many other occasions too, the Maoists had held such courts in the area and punished the people, suspecting them to be police informers or for maintaining a rapport with security personnel. While the cops remain silent, the red rebels having their way in the tribal belts. The innocent people are trapped between the cops and Maoists and living under fear and threat always.
