Developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), the 7.5 metre tall interceptor weapon system can effectively destroy incoming enemy missiles at low altitude.
A part of the country’s credible ballistic missile defence (BMD) programme, the interceptor is one of the best missiles in its class.
Reportedly, India also test-fired its indigenously developed Prithvi missile by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) from the launch pad-3 of Interim Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur in Balasore at 10.10 am today.
