Jharkhand Governor, Pradhan inaugurate International Conference on LPG

Jharkhand Governor Draupadi Murmu and Petroleum & Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday jointly inaugurated the first International Conference on LPG in Bhubaneswar.

The two-day conference was organised by Research and Development Initiative along with Bharat Petroleum Corporation, Indian Oil Corporation and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation.

The delegations from different developing countries attended the global meet on LPG.

Speaking on LPG,  PNG Minister said, “LPG was always seen as a commercial product. Under leadership of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji we have been able to visualise it as a tool of social change. Through PMUY we are committed to raise this number largely by providing 50million new LPG connections to women from BPL families.

Governor  Draupadi Murmu said, “LPG came in our home in 1995. It pleases me to see in 21st century how PMUY is making LPG accessible to poor homes”.

Speaking at the event Deputy Executive Director UN Women Lakshmi Puri said, PMUY & PAHAL contribute in a big way to UN Sustainable Development Goal 2030.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas today decided to extend the benefits under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana to the people of all Hilly States including Jammu & Kashmir, Uttara Khand, Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim & 7 North East States North-East States by treating them as ‘Priority States’ and release LPG connections to the eligible beneficiaries.
