Maharaja Bus Driver Arrested; Sent to Jail Custody

Police on Sunday arrested the driver of the ill-fated Maharaja bus that fell off 50 feet from a bridge near Puruna Manitri at Athmalik area in Angul district on September 9 in which 19 persons were killed and more than 40 others injured.

The bus driver identified as Birendra Behera, resident of Sambalpur. He had managed to jump off the bus just before if fell off the bridge.

Behera was produced before the court at Athmalik on Sunday and sent to jail custody today morning.
