Model Degree Colleges to be set up in 8 Backward Districts

After a review meeting held by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday evening, the Higher Education Minister Pradip Kumar Panigrahi told media persons that Odisha government has decided to set up model degree colleges in eight educationally backward districts.

The districts are Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Nuapada, Rayagada, Boudh, Deogarh, Nayagarh, and Sonepur.  All eight model degree colleges will have 64 seats each for Arts, Science and Commerce streams.

It was also discussed in the meeting that the government will take necessary steps to provide education in Plus Two streams in Nandahandi (Nabarangpur districts), Bandhugan (Koraput districts)  and Chandrapur blocks (Rayagada district).
