Special Relief Commissioner, Pradipta Mohapatra said, the mercury will continue around 42 degree Celsius and more at almost all places in the State. So the government decided to declare summer vacation from April 26. The schools will reopen after Raja festival. However, the losses of study will be compensated through extra classes after Raja, he said.
The government had first declared school holidays till April 20 and later extended it till 26 due to heat wave conditions in the state. Till now 88 persons have died in Odisha due to sunstroke.
