Maoists release 11 abducted Villagers in Malkangiri

All 11 villagers, who were abducted by armed Maoists from Mahupadar village in Mathili block of Malkangiri district on Wednesday night, were released this evening. The kidnapped villagers included Forest Guard Pintu Durua and Laxman Kumbhara.

Over 30 Maoists had raided the village and taken the villagers away without any notice. Other villagers, who are living in fear, had expressed ignorance about why they were abducted. A Praja Court was held by the red rebels, following which the villagers were released.

Husband of a local Samiti Member was also among the poor tribals, who were taken away by the Maoists.
