Power Cut in Odisha to continue till June 2016

Energy Minister Pranab Prakash Das has dropped a bomb-shell today with the announcement that power cut in Odisha will continue till June 2016. The decision was taken due to lack of sufficient water in the reservoirs.

“Odisha is currently facing shortages of 500 to 550 MW of power daily against the daily need of 3,500 MW – 4,000 MW power,” he said.

here will be one-hour power cut in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Puri everyday. Other urban areas of the state will witness a power cut of two hours per day. In rural areas, power cuts will last longer and there may not be any accountability.
