Regional parties merge to form Odisha Ganatantrik Sammukhya

ONI Bureau:  In the run up to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, two regional parties merged to float a new front in Odisha.

As per the report, the Samata Kranti Dal & Utkal Bharat merged to form a new Front “Odisha Ganatantrik Sammukhya”(Odisha Democratic Front).

This was announced by the Utkal Bharat chief Kharabela Swain and Samata Kranti Dal leader Braja Kishore Tripathy at a Press meet on Monday.

Both leaders said the new front aims to dethrone the ruling-Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and the front will give candidates in every constituency across the State in the ensuing polls.

Reacted to the formation of new front, BJP vice-president Samir Mohanty said that BJP welcomes the new political front and the party parliamentary board will decide on formation of any type of alliance with the new front.
