Rukuna Rath Yatra of Lord Lingaraj celebrated in Bhubaneswar

The Chariot Festival or the Rukuna Rath Yatra of Lord Lingaraja celebrated at Bhubaneswar on the day of Ashokastami. Mangala Alati was performed at around 5 am. and the Chariot pulling started at 5:10 PM.

The Rath begins its journey from the Lingaraj temple towards the Mausima temple.Thousands of devotees gathered  to pull the chariot.

15 platoons of police force deployed to manage the crowd and maintain law and order during the pulling of the chariot. Every year the festival takes place on the 8th day of the month of Chaitra.
