ONI Bureau: Reacting on Supreme Court’s suggestion for entry of non-Hindus into Jagannath temple, Puri Shankaracharya Nischalananda Saraswati and Gajapati King Dibyasingha Dev, who is considered the first servitor of Lord Jagannath opposed allowing entry of non-Hindus into the Puri temple.
Regarding the rules laid down for Gandhiji’s memorial inside the 12th century shrine, Shankaracharya said that the Jagannath temple is not a secular place and the rules laid down for Gandhiji’s memorial cannot be applied.
