New Zealand, Australia, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have officially qualified for the quarterfinals from Pool A. Bangladesh is likely to meet India in the quarterfinals. They will play New Zealand next in their last group match. England will take on Afghanistan in their last match.
Earlier, Bangladesh posted 275/7 in 50 overs. Mahmudullah scored 103, while Mushfiqur Rahim made 89. Soumya Sarkar contributed 40. For England, Anderson and Jordan took two wickets each. After a good start, England slumped from 97/1 to 163/6. Jos Butler (65) and Chris Woakes (42*) revived the hopes, but Bangladeshi bowlers struck hard to bowl them out for 260 in 48.3 overs.
Ian Bell (63), Alex Hales (27) and Joe Root (29) were the top contributors. Rubel Hossain took four wickets, while Mashrafe Mortaza and Taskin Ahmed took two wickets each. Mahmudullah was declared ‘Man of the Match’.
