Apart from Murali Vijay (144), only Ajinkya Rahane managed to get a big score. He was out for 81. Rohit Sharma (32), Dhoni (33) and Ashwin (35) failed to convert the start into big scores. Nathan Lyon took three wickets.
India, which suffered a 48-run loss in the first Test match at Adelaide, was expected to score in excess of 500 to put pressure on the Australian batsmen. Unless they produce some great bowling, it would be an herculean task for them to stop the Kangaroos.
