Dick, 56, will take over the charge from Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe who was in charge of the Metropolitan Police Commissioner earlier. He will resign by the end of this month.
The Metropolitan Police is said to be one of the largest police force in Britain having more than 43,000 employees.
Britain’s Home Secretary Amber Rudd said Dick is an exceptional leader and a most powerful police officer who had a clear vision for the future of the Metropolitan Police.
