Now 5-kg cooking cylinders (LPG) will be available at a subsidised rate across the India. State oil marketing companies have started selling these five kg LPG cylinders at a subsidised rate up to a maximum limit of 34 cylinders in a year.
For domestic use the government has been giving subsidy on 14.2 kg LPG cylinders for 12 bottles in year, and beyond of that customers need to pay the market price.
The Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan told Rajya Sabha that consumers would get 34 cylinders of 5kg LPG cylinders at a subsidized rate in a year. Beyond that, each bottle of 5Kg LPG would cost Rs 351.
The consumers will be able to get the 5 kg LPG cylinder by showing just an identification card to a dealer. In Delhi, the rate of each subsidized 5kg cylinder is Rs.155.
The subsidy scheme for mini-LPG cylinder would give relief to small income group people; those were buying the same at a market price from dealers.
Under the subsidy scheme, consumers can buy either 12 cylinders of 14.2 kg or 34 cylinders of 5 Kg LPG cooking gas in a year.
