The Companies Act, 2013 introduces Secretarial Audit

National Seminar on 'Secretarial Audit’ held in BhubaneswarThe companies Act, 2013 has for the first time introduced Secretarial Audit for listed companies and selected public companies. The Secretarial Audit will be conducted by company Secretaries in practice. This has opened a great opportunity for the company Secretary Profession. At the same time, Secretarial Audit will ensure compliance Rules, Regulations and procedures for better corporate Governance.

Bhubaneswar chapter of Institute of Company Secretaries of India organised a National Seminar at Swosti Premium today. Hon’ble Minister, Industries and School & Mass education Sri Debi Prasad Mishra, the Chief Guest of the Seminar said that we should have a robust accounting and Secretarial procedure for better Governance to compete with companies across the Globe. A robust system and procedure is required to invite FDI and encourage joint venture projects. Company Secretaries have a greater role to play in this regard. CS Mamta Binani, Vice President, ICSI and Practicing Company Secretary, Kolkata, CS S.K.Agrawala, Council Member, ICSI and Programme Director, CS Debadatta Mohapatra, Chairman, Bhubaneswar Chapter and Coordinator, CS A.Acharya, Company Secretary, IDC of Odisha limited Session Coordinator etc. participated in the discussion. Delegates from different States of India participated in this National Seminar.
