Arvind Subramanian meets Odisha CM; says Odisha should focus on Tourism

Arvind Subramanian-Naveen PatnaikThe Chief Economic Advisor to Government of India, Arvind Subramanian  on Thursday met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at State Secretariat.

According to the sources, the duo discussed the economic development including development of tourism, textiles sectors, improvement of internet connectivity and implementation of developmental schemes in the State.

The Chief Minister has proposed opening of bank branches in gram panchayats so that it will not create problem in the way of financial inclusion.

Subramanian was in Bhubaneswar to participate a conclave on ‘Economic Survey Outreach’ organised by the Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB).

Delivering speech at the conclave, Subramanian said, Odisha should focus more on tourism, textile sectors, labour intensive and manufacturing sectors.

He would submit his preliminary findings on inflation in pulses to the government next week, Subramanian further stated.
