SC rejects Curative Petition, Yakub Memon to be Hanged
The Supreme Court rejected the curative petition of Yakub Memon, one of the key accused in 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case. The President of India had already rejected his mercy petition last year. Yakub is scheduled to be hanged on July 30 inside the Nagpur Jail, where he is lodged now.
Memon was sentenced to death in 2007. His review petition was dismissed by the Supreme Court in April 2015. He was convicted of arranging finances to carry out 13 serial blasts, which left 257 dead and over 700 injured across Mumbai.
