The World Wildlife Day was observed in India today with the theme “Listen to the young voices”.
The day is celebrated every year to mark the signing of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species. The day provides an opportunity to celebrate the varied forms of flora and fauna available in the beautiful world.
In the national capital, the day was observed by destroying confiscated animal body parts and items made from animals’ bone, skin, tusk and horn. The items were burnt in incinerator at Delhi Zoo, in the presence of Environment and Forest Minister Anil Madhav Dave.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said the habit of wildlife conservation lies in the heart of the Indians which is natural.
