Bhubaneswar, Aug 26: Three troopers and one civilian were killed and six other injured in a landmine blast in Maoists infected Malkangiri district in Odisha on Wednesday. The landmine was planted by Maoists targeting the security forces those were on anti-naxal combing operations in the district.
According to police sources, the incident occurred near Sarjubandh in Chitrakonda when the Border Security Force (BSF) personnel accidentally stepped on the landmine planted by the Maoists.
The BSF troopers were on combing operation and upon completion they were returning to their base camp in Chitrakonda. Following the incident, the combing operation are intensified in the district. Senior security officials rushed to the spot and shifted injured personnel to Malkangiri district headquarter hospital.
