The State government on Friday said five out of the eight toll gates in Odisha belonging to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) are illegal.
State Transport Minister Ramesh Majhi informed to media persons that these toll gates are located at Pipili, Manguli (Cuttack district), Panikoili (Jajpur district), Sergarh (Balasore district) and Baraguda (Bargarh district).
These gates are operating from 2009 and have been collected crores of rupees throughout the year.
It is to be noted that, the All Odisha Private Bus Owners’ Association on Friday protested that these toll gates violated the guidelines of National Highway Authority of India and taking more fees from passengers and passenger buses.
