Hon’ble Chief Justice of India Inaugurated Centennial Celebration of First Sitting of Circuit Bench of High Court for Odisha at Cuttack on Sunday. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Supreme Court Judge Justice Dipak Mishra, Orissa High Court Chief Justice Vineet Saran, retired judges of High Court and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
Chief Justice of India TS Thakur addressing the centennial celebration of the first sitting of the Circuit Bench of High Court for Orissa here. The CJI said, presently, there are about 18,000 judges working in courts all over the country. Over 3 crore cases are pending in various courts across the country. India needs about 70,000 judges for smooth conduct of the courts and clearing the huge backlog of cases.
The chief minister also said the state government has taken up the issue of filling up of vacant judges positions in the Orissa High Court with the Centre for smooth functioning of the judicial system that delivers justice to all sections of society in the state.
