Senior BJD leader and Dhenkal MP Tathagat Satpathy yet again showed his opposition of using Hindi script on Saturday. He even went on saying in social media that if given an opportunity, he would remove Hindi and retain only Odia script on the official emblem of Odisha.
I stand committed. Given opportunity/authority, I swear I shall remove Hindi and retain ONLY Oriya script on my state's official emblem.TS

Earlier today, the BJD leader wrote, “I am a firm believer that kids in our state must be encouraged to excel in Oriya and focus on English. These are two primary languages that will help them succeed in life.”

On the part of Satpathy, the language controversy began in August 2017 when Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar had written a letter to the former in Hindi, inviting him to attend a district-level event on the ‘India 2022’ vision.
However, the Dhenkanal MP had tweeted the Union Minister’s letter, adding: “Why are Union Ministers forcing Hindi on non-Hindi speaking Indians? Is this an attack on other languages?”
Later, Satapathy had also sent a letter to the Union Minister asking him to communicate either in Odia or English instead of using Hindi language.
