BJD stages Demonstration against Polavaram Project today

The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Odisha holds demonstration in front of the Raj Bhawan today to protest against controversial Polavaram irrigation project in Andhra Pradesh.

Party leaders have submitted a memorandum to the Governor addressing to the President Pranab Mukherjee in this regard. Over 5,000 party workers are participating in the stir.

Notably, both Odisha and Chhattisgarh Governments have been opposing to the Polavaram project as the project will submerge vast tracts of forest lands, revenue villages in the upper riparian states of Odisha and Chhattisgarh.
