Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra and 5T Secretary V K Pandian, on Friday visited Kandhamal to review the progress of construction of the Medical College and Hospital in Phulbani.
State Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had approved the project in December 2020. The medical college at Phulbani will have 100 seats and hospital with 500 beds. The project is pegged at a cost of Rs 450 crores. It is expected to be completed within 30 months.
The Chief secretary directed the district administration to provide all support for timely completion of the project. He suggested the water resources department to plan for the drainage systems and water conservation structures.
5T Secretary suggested facilities for the attendants of the patients like accommodation and food facilities in Phulbani. He suggested that the staff staying in the campus should have proper working ecosystem and residential facilities for the families.
The campus will have facilities for 300-bed boys hostel and 150-bed girls hostel. It will also have an auditorium with capacity of 650 persons and quarters for doctors and staff.
The high level team also visited the AJO Govt high school and Govt girls high school Phulbani, selected under the Mo School campaign.
