ONI Bureau: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday chaired a high level review meeting. The CM directed district administrations and concerned officials to be on high alert to tackle any possible flood situation.
On the wake of the incessant rainfall in the Mahanadi river basin and possibility of a flood in coastal areas, Relief Commissioner and concerned district administrations were directed to reach out to the affected people and provide needful assistance to them.
The administration of Khurda, Cuttack, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapra and Jajpur districts has been alerted. Fire Services Department and ODRAF also asked to remain alert.
While, water level of Baitarani River near Akhuapada in Bhadrak touches danger mark of 17.83 metre, water level in Hirakud Dam touched 615.31 ft by 8 am today. The 1st sluice gate of Hirakud Dam will be opened tomorrow that will take 36 hours for the flood water to reach Cuttack.
