The 74th India Independence Day was observed across the state sans people. Strict guidelines were in place regarding the celebrations.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik unfurled the tricolour in Bhubaneswar, in the presence of COVID19 warriors, who were the special guests on the occasion.
“India is now fighting a battle against COVID19. I pay rich tributes to the COVID Warriors of the State, who are playing a crucial role in fighting against the pandemic. Due to their dedication, the COVID-19 recovery rate is high in Odisha and death rate lowest in the country.”

At BJP Party office in Bhubaneswar, state president Samir Mohanty hoisted the flag.
OPCC president Niranjan Patnaik hoisted the flag at Congress Bhawan in Bhubaneswar and delivered his address.

INS Chilka celebrated the 74th Independence Day with patriotic fervor to honour and acknowledge the sacrifice made by the freedom fighters in the freedom struggle. Commodore Rituraj Sahu, Commanding Officer, INS Chilka, laid a Traditional Wreath in such recognition at a War Memorial named “Prerna Sthal” to honour the valour, Courage and sacrifice of those who laid down their lives for our freedom.
