ONI Bureau: With the nationwide launching of ‘India Post Payments Bank’ (IPPB), Union Petroleum & Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated the IPPB Branchin Bhubaneswar today.
While speaking on the occasion Pradhan said, “Toda
y more than 4200 gram panchayats in Odisha is unbanked. IPPB will bring in a paradigm shift in extending banking services to the people of Odisha.”
He further stated that IPPB is a giant leap towards empowering rural India. It will bring new economic and new job opportunities in our villages and also revolutionize the Indian Postal Services.
More than 8300 postmen and other delivery staff will bring doorstep banking with smartphone to the people of Odisha across 8200 post offices covering all districts, the Union Minister added.
In Odisha, 33 IPPB branches and 165 Access Points have been launched across the state today. Remaining 8050 Access Points will be rolled out by December 31 this year reportedly.
