Jagannath Land Sale: Odisha Govt to mop up Rs 1,000 Cr for Temple

Jagannath temple PuriBhubaneswar, Aug 5: Odisha government will liquidate land holding belonging to Lord Jagannath to boost revenue for the temple. This decision was taken in a meeting chaired by chief secretary Gokul Chandra Pati on Tuesday.

Out of total 57,000 acre of land holding, spread across the state, the state government will identify and sell around 18,00 to 19,00 acres in Khurda, Jatni and Bhubaneswar. Bhubaneswar Development Authority was asked to sale 131 acres of land through plotting scheme.

The state government is looking to mop up Rs 1000 crore in next two years from land selling the first phase, said chief administrator of Sri Jagannath Temple Administration Suresh Mohapatra. He said this process will boost the revenue of the temple.
