Leaders of Trade Union and Students Union join Bhasha Andolan

Bhasa Andolona 1The Bhasha Andolan in Odisha, has entered Day 39 today. The Naveen Patnaik Government tried to divert the attention, saying they are serious about making Odia the official language of the state and it will be done soon. However, the CM had promised the same inside the Assembly in December 2015, which is yet to be fulfilled.

On the 38th day of Bhasha Andolan yesterday, Editor of Samyabadi, Basant Majhi, Amiya Pandav, former MLA Narayan Reddy and student leader Bhakti Bhushan Mohapatra joined the ‘Silent Black Flag March’.

Though there were heavy rains due to cyclonic storm, members of Bhasa Andolon didn’t stop the march. They started the march from the statue of Former Chief Minister Nabakrushna Choudhury and concluded it at Madhu Babu’s statue near Governor’s House Square.

Bhasa AndolonaSeveral other members and supporters of Bhasha Andolan, including  Subhas Chandra Pattanayak, Pradyumna Satpathy, Pabitra Maharatha, Tusarkanta Satpathy, Deba Prasad Das, Ashwini Kumar Swain, Tirtha Kumar Sahu, Rakesh Das, Sudhir Kumar Rout, Sumanta Patnaik, Biranchi Moharana, Subhas Chandra Pradhan, Sudarsan Dixit, Ashok Jagdev, Biyaj Samantray, Raj Sekhar Laha, Siba Prasad Patnaik, Kali Prasad Samantray, Bibekananda Das, Gurupadma Kar, Dibakar Balabantray, Baikunth Nayak and Bhakti Bhushan Mohapatra, Byomkesh Tripathy, Akhyay sahu, Dinabandhu Pati, Tusharkanti Jena, Tapan Mohanty, Samar Goswamy took part in the silent black flag march.
