BJD Youth Wing protests against Modi Govt on Fuel Prices Hike

BJD youth wingThe Biju Yuva Janata Dal (BYJD) on Friday organized a statewide protest against the Modi Government for frequent hike in price of petrol and diesel.

Addressing a media conference at the State BJD Party Office in Bhubaneswar on Thursday, BYJD president and Minister of State for Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Sanjay Dasburma, Tourism and Culture Minister Ashok Panda, and Energy Minister Pranab Prakash Das termed the hike in fuel prices as anti-people since it would lead to rise in prices of essential commodities in the market.

Dasburma pointed out that the price of crude oil in international market has come down from 105.37 dollars per barrel on June 1, 2014 to 49.78 dollars on June 16, 2016. However, the Centre imposed excise duty, additional excise duty, special excise duty and cess of 104.30 per cent and 231.3 per cent on petrol and diesel respectively, for which the common people have been suffered, he added.

The youth wing of the BJD party staged demonstration in front of all 30 districts headquarters of the State and two party organisational districts of Odisha including Bhubaneswar and Rourkela in this regard.
