Odisha Cabinet makes Odia Signage mandatory on Signboards

ONI Bureau:  The State Cabinet on Wednesday approved 17 proposals at a meeting presided over by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the State Secretariat in Bhubaneswar.

The State Cabinet made Odia language mandatory on signboards of all shops and commercial establishments. As per the nod, all shops and establishments to change sign boards within 1 month, violators will pay fine between Rs 1000-5000 and will pay Rs 2000-25000 if found violating guidelines for 2nd time.

The Cabinet also gave its nod to form 8000 ‘Biju Yuva Vahini’ in 6800 Panchayats, 130 Urban Local Bodies across the State.

Odisha Cabinet has also approved proposal to increase daily allowance of Speaker, Deputy Speaker and Ministers during Assembly sessions to Rs 800 from Rs 150.

The Cabinet also approved the reduction in revenue run rate from 10 lakhs per month to Rs.2.5 lakhs per month during the preceding six months as one of the eligibility criteria for availing product development and marketing assistance.
