Odisha government’s rapid action to resist the rise of covid-19 cases

As of 21st April, Odisha’s coronavirus case count stands at 79. In the last 36 hours, Odisha has seen the highest surge in positive cases of coronavirus, i.e. 18 positive cases. The surge in positive cases in Odisha has prompted the government to take the following measures:

1.Just hours after the rise of cases in Balasore on Monday, Odisha Govt has quickly announced 15 COVID-19 hit areas as containment zones. Here is the list:

2.Further, Principal Secretary Health has directed experts from medical colleges, senior health officers and state Rapid Response Teams (RRTs) to oversee containment measures in Balasore, Bhadrak and Jajpur districts. The Health Secretary has additionally informed that the District Health Society (DHS) will proceed to Balasore Directorate of Public Health (DPH) to Bhadrak Directorate of Family Welfare (DFW) to Jajpur.
Three state rapid response teams to proceed immediately these districts.

3.SCB MCH to provide technical support to Jajpur district, whereas, FMMCH has been supporting Balasore and Bhadrak districts and will continue doing so.

4.Amid the COVID19 lockdown, Odisha Government has cleared six Invest-In-Odisha proposals worth ₹9,100 Cr which will generate more than 6,525 jobs. The approved projects spread across steel, cement, chemical, metal & metal downstream, textile & apparel, logistics & infrastructure.

5.Also on Monday, CM Naveen Patnaik announced the operation of five standalone Odisha COVID Hospitals with a combined bed capacity of 825, readied in record 30 days. The hospitals have been set up in Sundargarh, Bargarh, Angul, Jagatsinghpur & Nabarangpur, increasing the number of beds to 5000.

The number of active cases in the state now stands at 53 while 25 persons have been cured of the disease.
