Odisha Govt gives job to Sprinters Dutee Chand and Srabani Nanda

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday handed over the appointment letters to Women Sprinters Dutee Chand and Srabani Nanda at the Odisha Bhawan in New Delhi.

Dutee has been appointed as the Assistant Manager of Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC), while Srabani has been appointed as a Junior Manager at the Odisha Hydro Power Corporation (OHPC).

The CM told the reporters that his government has already adopted a rule to ensure direct recruitment of meritorious sportspersons of the state in Odisha Police. And, 59 sportspersons have been provided jobs till date under this rule.

Dutee, who had joined the Mumbai Central Railway after she failed to get any assurance from the state government, has expressed happiness that she would be able to play for her state in future. Srabani too hailed the government for this much needed gesture.

Hopefully, the government will take similar interest in providing employment to Amiya Mallick, Birendra Lakra, K Ravi Kumar and Jauna Murmu, who are yet to get a job offer from Odisha Government despite proving their mettle at the global arena.
